Forcespinning apparatus

Location: Biomaterials Lab

Description:
Homemade forcespinning is a simple technique, inspired on cotton candy manufacturing, which uses centrifugal forces to produce polymeric fibers. The process consists of depositing the material either as a solution or as granular solids that are melted in the spinneret and then spun to make nanofibers. The control parameters that affect fiber diameter include spinneret selection, nozzle configurations, rheological properties, rotational speed, temperature, collection system, and environmental conditions.
