Professor Elvira Fortunato winner of FEMS Materials Innovation Prize

The Federation of European Materials Science Societies (FEMS) bi-annually awards a Materials Innovation Prize (MIP) for distinguished scientists or engineers to recognise outstanding contributions to technological development and innovation based on exceptional contributions in materials science and engineering. The prize celebrates inventions and innovations that have favourable impact on quality of life of the individual as well as general welfare, sustainability, and environmental impact of the economy.

Professor Elvira Fortunato said that: ‘It was with great joy and surprise to win the FEMS Materials Innovation Prize award, and in particular because I had been awarded an area related to functional and sustainable materials, such as electronics based on metal oxides. Scientists in the field of materials science play a fundamental role in the choice of materials and technologies for the emerging solutions that the planet is facing.’
