Research Fellow GRANT (Ref. Opto-Electro-Fiber -1)

Contest is open to 1 Research Fellow (Ref. Opto-Electro-Fiber -1) in the field of project “Opto-Electro-Fiber - Novel photo/conductive organic fibers for flexible optoelectronics” funded by I3N, financed by national funds through the FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC):

Master in the area of Applied Chemistry/Organics, Chemical Engineering or similar, to develop research work within the framework of the tasks of the project mentioned.

The activities to be pursued include: synthesis and characterization of organic semiconductor-based polytiophens and their derivatives for the production of fibers by electrospinning with appropriate properties for applications in optoelectronics: solar cells, light-emitting diodes among others.

The work will be developed at CENIMAT/I3N (Center for materials Research/Institute of Nanostructures, Nanomodelling and Nanofabrication) in Materials Science Department of the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, under the supervision of Professor João Paulo Borges. The Fellow must perform periodic stays (for periods of 2 to 3 weeks) at the universities of Aveiro and Minho to carry out the scheduled tasks under the project.

The grant is governed by law No. 40/2004 of 18 August (Statute of the grant recipient of scientific research); Regulation of advanced training and human resources Qualification 2010.

The grant duration is 12 months, with possible renewal for a further one periods of 12 months. The grant is scheduled to start in October 2011.

The grant amount corresponds to 980€, as the table of values of the fellowships awarded directly by the FCT, I.P. in Country (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).

In the selection of the candidates preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate that they have training and experience in the field of synthesis semi/conductor polymers (50%), analysis of the curriculum demonstrating through interview ability to work in a team and under pressure (30%) and prove having knowledge and skills above average to perform research in this area (20%).

The selection panel will be composed of Professors João Paulo Borges, Isabel Ferreira and Elvira Fortunato.

The final results of the evaluation will be advertised through the ordered list by note obtained posted on visible place and the public through the portal of the FCT-UNL, being the candidate approved notified via email.

The contest is open from 15 September to October 5, 2011.

Applications must be formalized, by sending application letter accompanied by the following documents: Curriculum Vitae, certified qualifications and letter of recommendation (optional). Applications may be delivered personally, during the period from 09:00 to 01:00 pm and 02:00 pm on 05:00 pm at the secretariat of CENIMAT (FCT-UNL), forwarded by mail to the Secretariat of CENIMAT, Campus de Caparica, Caparica, 2829-516 or via email (imf@fct.unl.pt, jpb@fct.unl.pt, sec-cenimat@fct.unl.pt), mentioning the reference to which you are applying (Ref.
