RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (MsC), one position

It is open a position for a Research Fellowship (MsC) at CENIMAT/I3N in the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, under the scope of scientific research project APPLE - Autonomous Printed Paper products for functional Labels and Electronics financed by FP7 – European Union, under the following conditions:

Scientific Area: Electrical Engineering, Physics.

Admission requirements: Candidates must have background in the areas above mentioned, with expertise in the design of electronic circuits (other areas can be considered only with the required expertise) and knowledge of English language. The candidates must hold a Master degree with a final classification not lower than 14 (on 20 scale). The activity to be performed involves the design, manufacture and test of electronic circuits on paper substrates.

Workplan: Design of electronic circuits based on innovative semiconductor oxides, different from the materials normally used in electronic circuits. The work will be based on developments within the group of Electronic and Optoelectronic Materials which is the European leader on Transparent Electronics topic. The main objective is to design these circuits (transistors, memories, oscillators) to be manufactured in low cost substrates such as paper, contributing to the developments in the paper electronics, Paper-E®, a concept patented by CENIMAT/I3N. The challenge of this work is to use paper as dielectric in transistors, creating new frontiers in the design and manufacture of circuits integrating these devices.

Legislation and regulations: Law no. 40/2004, dated August 18th (Status of Scientific Research Fellow); Regulations for Advanced Training and Qualification of Human Resources, 2010.

Workplace: CENIMAT/I3N, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, under the scientific guidance of Full Professor Rodrigo Martins.

Duration: The grant will have an initial duration of six months, renewable to a maximum of 36 months and will begin on May 1st, 2011.

Value: The monthly amount of fellowship will be € 980.00 (nine hundred and eighty euros).

Selection procedure: Selection of candidates will be done in two phases: curriculum review and individual interview to the selected candidates.

Members of evaluation comittee: Prof. Rodrigo Ferrão de Paiva Martins (president), Dr. Luis Miguel Nunes Pereira, Prof. Elvira Maria Correia Fortunato (1st substitute) and Prof. Isabel Maria Merces Ferreira (2nd substitute).

Candidates notification: The final evaluation results will be publicized in a public area of CENIMAT/I3N by means of an ordered list based on candidates’ evaluation, and the selected candidate will be notified by email.

Deadline for application submission: The call is open from April 1st to April 15th.

Applications must be formalized through an application letter with the following attached documents: CV, photocopy of degree certificate and ID card/passport and other documents considered to be relevant. Applications should be submitted as follows: personally at CENIMAT/I3N, during the period from 9am to 6pm, or sent by regular mail to CENIMAT/I3N - Campus da Caparica, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Quinta da Torre, 2829-516 Caparica, or by email to sec-cenimat@fct.unl.pt and rm@uninova.pt.
