Sirazul Haque completed the Bachelor of Science degree (4 years with thesis) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from International Islamic University Chittagong (Bangladesh) and Master of Science (2 years with thesis) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from SungKyunKwan University (SKKU, South Korea), in 2012 and 2015 respectively. SKKU engineering is one of the most prestigious schools in the world, as it is consistently placed amongst the top 50 best schools worldwide by QS, THE and other ranking agencies. There, he worked in collaboration with Samsung Company in the areas of electromagnetic-tuned nanoscale inkjet printing, printed electronics and flexible electronics, in the Intelligent System Research Institute (ISRI) lab. 

He enrolled in CENIMAT-i3N, the host institution of his current PhD degree, in June 2016 as a post master’s researcher, and since January 2018, he started the PhD in Advanced Materials and Processing (Nanophotonics) jointly with Univ. Aveiro. His research has been dedicated to the topic of photonics applied to photovoltaics (PV), which is the core (but not the unique) subject of the PhD project. Photonics is globally qualified as a key enabling technology, while efficient and low-cost solar power is considered a priority to reach the low-carbon goals set by the EU. The novelty in his PhD project consists in a disruptive solar cell design with the potential to create a step-change relative to the prior-of-art. The idea consists in using advanced light management strategies to attain high sunlight-to-electricity conversion efficiency with ultra-thin and potentially flexible devices that can be integrated in a variety of consumer-oriented products ubiquitously used in our daily life.

The work he developed in this framework (applying photonics & luminescent down-shifting features to solar cells using a combination of both simulation and experimental tools), already led to promising results that enabled the completion of 9 articles and 3 book chapters that were published in high-impact renowned journals; publications can be seen in his Google Scholar. Currently, a few more publications are underway.
